In-Person Sessions

In-person First Steps sessions will be held in-person several times a week. Details regarding daily sessions and summer-specific sessions will be available soon.

After attending a First Steps Session, students may come to the Global Fairfield Office for open Walk-In Hours during the week for individual advising.

Virtual Sessions

Virtual First Steps sessions will be held via Zoom. More information regarding Zoom sessions will be available soon.

Parents/Guardians

Global Fairfield strongly advises all parents and guardians to attend a What You Need to Know to Study Abroad as a Stag presentation during Alumni/Family Weekend in October or join your student at one of the online Monday evening Information Sessions.

Phase 1 Application Deadline & Approval: December 15
Summer study abroad applicants who plan on submitting their applications during the Phase 1 deadline, must meet all the eligibility requirements at the point of submission. Students will be notified of their approval prior to the end of the fall semester and thus, their application will be evaluated based on the current GPA.

Phase 1 Program Commitment: January 15 - (Full Program Fee Due)
*LSE Summer and CYA Summer (includes Honors) programs must submit their application during Phase 1 by December 15. There will be no Phase 2 for LSE Summer or CYA Summer given the urgency of enrolling in courses and housing.

Phase 2 Application Deadline & Approval: January 15
Students are welcome to apply for the Phase 2 application period which will evaluate the student’s eligibility status as of January 15. Phase 2 applicants will be approved based on meeting the eligibility requirements and space availability at the institution abroad.

Phase 2 Program Commitment: February 2 - (Full Program Fee Due)
*Summer applications received between October 1 and December 15 will be included in Phase 1.

Applications received between December 16 and January 15 will be included in Phase 2. Space is limited, and student applications will be assessed on a first come, first served basis. Given capacity limits, there is no guarantee Phase 2 applicants will have the same program options as Phase 1.

You will receive an email on or before the decision date notifying you that your application status has changed. Once you receive that email you may log in to the StudioAbroad portal to receive your application decision.

Changing programs is sometimes possible if the change is initiated far enough in advance of the deposit deadline. Requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

The admitting university (where students are taking their courses) bases their acceptance decision off of the student's academic progress at the point of application. This is the end of the Fall semester one year prior to the Fall or Spring semester the applicant is applying to go abroad. At that point there needs to be academic evidence of progress in the declared major or minor the applicant is focusing their studies on while abroad.

Directly following your acceptance, Global Fairfield will proceed with next steps and planning for your semester abroad. It is important during this period you apply or renew your passport if your passport expires within six months of your program end date. We also advise students to apply for a credit card during this period. The credit card can be in the students’ name alone or can be added as an authorized user on a parent/guardians card. As part of the visa process, most students are required to show proof of a credit card through a bank statement so it is important to start this process as early as possible. Every student studying abroad is required to have a credit card as part of International Travel Policy.
